Amor Prohibido
Amor Prohibido is composed mainly of Mexican cumbia and dance-pop songs sung in Spanish. "Amor prohibido" was released as the album's lead single on February 11, 1994.  The single sold over 200,000 copies in 1994. This song features instruments like drums, guitar, keyboards, accordion, trumpet, trombone, and bajo sexto. It is considered to be one of Selena's best love songs.
Her song based on the true story of Selena's grandparents that are reminiscent of the Romeo and Juliet story. Its protagonist suffers an emotional banishment from her family and culture because of her feelings for a man whose social class is different  from hers, while the couple's romantic love goes over the boundaries that are based upon class and race. The lyrics are related to by many females with controlling and strict parents who forbid them to love a man believed to be "trouble".

LYRICS

Her album cover!!!
This song basically says that it doesn't matter what our parents say but what matters is we're together. She also says that money is the least they should worry about and that everybody calls their relationship                              "Forbidden Love".  The lyrics also say that love should always be over money and she repeatedly says this story in a medium speed in a top hit single!
I would say the overall feeling of "Amor Prohibido" fun and sort of upsetting at the time. Its fun because it has a good fast up-beat to it but its upsetting with the fact that these two lovers cant be together. The title of the song itself means "Forbidden Love". Everytime i hear this song it makes me want to dance to it. Its catchy beat makes everyone want to get up and start dancing.
My favorite part of this song is the basic whole theme of this song. The typical love story where they cant be together because society doesn't think its right. I love the way she uses the keyboard to make this song more dance-able too. The way the music in the background helps understand the story more. I guess you can say that i just love this whole song and how its made.
